Omental cyst

Omental cysts are asymptomatic benign proliferations of ectopic lymphatics that lack communication with the normal lymphatic system and they can be discovered as an incidental finding. Omental cysts are confined to the lesser or greater omentum. The computed tomography demonstrates a unilocular or multilocular  cyst that may contain hemorrhagic, serous, chylous or infected fluid. The can range in size from a few millimetres to many centimetres.

The differential diagnosis includes abdominal cystic lymphangioma, intestinal duplication cyst, choledochal cyst, liver, splenic, pancreatic, ovarian or renal cysts, hydadid cyst or ascites.
