Our History:

The department of Computed Tomography of the Anticancer Hospital " Saint Savvas" was founded in 1984 under the direction of Dr. Ioannis Andreou . It was among the first independent departments in Greece where newer, for that time, imaging modalities were used. Upon the establishment of the National Health System, Dr.Aggeliki Tavernaraki took over the direction of our department. During this 20-year service we've followed the technological advances as well as the scientific developments in order to remain among the pioneers  in Greece in applying up-to-date techniques in diagnosis and therapy (in terms of CT-guided interventional radiology).

Our Subject:          

The examinations  that we perform  in our department are categorized as general  and in special ones. The general ones are the ordinary CT's of the whole body. The special ones are divided in diagnostic (fine needle biopsies, virtual endoscopies, 3D remodeling CT) and therapeutic (microinterventional techniques of radiofrequencies and alcohol infusion in liver lesions, bones, etc., nefrostomes and drainages) .

Our Educational Character:

A large number of resident  radiologists receive training in our department in Computed Tomography. Further more radiology Specialists follow postgraduate training in CT. Finally our department offers, officially recognized by the Hellenic state, training to  technicians from the Educational Technological Institute.  
  Our Other Character:   

0ur continuous contact with technology has been the reason for us meeting and using the computers. We must confess they are  a special factor in our lives since we take advantage of their broad effectiveness, employing them as a real tool in our job as well as a wonderful means of communication, fun and creative occupation.
